OTTAWA — KISS still wants to rock and roll all night long, they just want to start a bit earlier.
Showtime for the KISS show at Bluesfest Wednesday night has been moved ahead by 45 minutes.
Gene Simmons and his band will start their show at 8:45 p.m. on the Bank of America stage, instead of the originally scheduled 9:30 p.m. start. The opening act, Beast, will go on at 7 p.m.
There’s been a change as well on the Rogers Stage, where the Arkells will be on at 6 p.m., followed by The National at 7:45 p.m.
The much-anticipated KISS show stands to be the premier act at Bluesfest 2009.
If you can’t be there, you can still get a feel for the show at ottawacitizen.com. Arts writer Peter Simpson (aka The Big Beat) will be tweeting news from the show live to our Bluesfest site.
The forecast is for Wednesday’s clear skies to give way to clouds tonight, with a cool low of 14 C.
Meanwhile, former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor has cancelled his scheduled show Thursday night.
In a statement on his website, Taylor wrote: “It is with deep regret that I must announce that the US and Canadian dates scheduled for July and August will have to be cancelled, due to health concerns. During my stay in the Hospital, my physicians have determined it would not be safe for me to travel at this time. I do hope to return to the US and Canada in the future, to sing and play for you.”
Bluesfest organizers are searching for a replacement act for Taylor’s appearance.
